Our Initiatives
Project Chetna
We have held legal awareness camps in different organisations to educate the women about the basic laws made in their favour. Women were mostly keen to know their rights and laws on domestic violence, inheritance laws and sexual harassment at workplace act. New definitions of domestic violence, abuses, concept of shared household, what amounts to sexual harassment at workplace, were some of the
concepts explained to them. Some of the laws regarding which knowledge has been imparted include:
• Domestic Violence Act
• Dowry Prohibition Act
• Proprietary Rights of women
• Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act
Project Udaan
Under project Udaan, we educate women and adolescent girls on menstrual hygiene. With the help of a doctor we educate them about menstruation; we clarify their doubts and most importantly encourage them to speak on their problems related to menstrual hygiene, which is a taboo in the Indian society. As a measure to help them improve their health we provide sanitary napkins to them at a much subsidised cost. As part of our initiative the help was even rendered to the women of Nepal earthquake victims. Parcels of sanitary napkins were sent to Nepal.
We believe that no girl child should be denied the right of education and no women should be exploited within and outside their homes because “pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever”. Let us each in our own little way contribute to the well -being of other women, for when we educate a woman we educate an entire generation.
