Project Udaan
Project Udaan: Menstrual Hygiene Management
Under project Udaan, we educate women and adolescent girls on menstrual hygiene. With the help of a doctor we educate them about menstruation; we clarify their doubts and most importantly encourage them to speak on their problems related to menstrual hygiene, which is a taboo in the Indian society. As a measure to help them improve their health we provide sanitary napkins to them at a much subsidised cost. As part of our initiative the help was even rendered to the women of Nepal earthquake victims. Parcels of sanitary napkins were sent to Nepal.
We believe that no girl child should be denied the right of education and no women should be exploited within and outside their homes because “pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever”. Let us each in our own little way contribute to the well -being of other women, for when we educate a woman we educate an entire generation.
You too can contribute to the well-being of any girl by joining us in any of the initiatives by:
• Becoming a member
• Becoming a volunteer
• Donating to a cause
A camp on menstrual hygiene management:MHM was held for girls in Ayodhya. We are greatful to Ms.Mudra Singh for actively participating and helping us in breaking this taboo across various cities and helping Nawal Foundation in spreading the smiles…….THANK YOU!
Nawal Foundation in association with Loreto Alumnae Association organized a child abuse and menstrual hygiene workshop for the children of Jagriti.
Yet another effort to break the taboo on menstrual hygiene, NAWAL FOUNDATION in association with CHILDLINE organised a medical camp in a slum. The doctor told the women about the good practices to be followed during their periods apart from general health check up of women and children. sanitary napkins were also distributed to the women as part of our PROJECT UDAAN. Our sincere thanks to FAMILY HOSPITAL,LUCKNOW for lending a helping hand to us. Menstruation or periods…one of the most important aspect of a woman’s health and yet most neglected issue…..a taboo. We have launched our PROJECT UDAAN to help women and adolescent girls to deal with the issue of menstrual hygiene
